EnvironmentSaving the planet one hand dryer at a timeThere is no bigger trend facing operators today than creating environment friendly facilities. Aside from the significant cost savings, when the choice is made to install a Jet Towel™ a statement is being made that less waste, less use of natural resources, and cleanliness are paramount to your operating mission. Although in many instances paper towels are produced from recycled paper, the Jet Towel™ is a more attractive alternative. It’s easy to use paper towels to dry the hands then throw them away without a second thought, but stop for a moment to consider what this actually means in terms of impact on the environment. It quickly adds up. For example, say a company located in a 10-story office building uses some 320,000 paper towels per month, which generate about 770 kilograms of waste paper. This would be equivalent to 16 trees per month, or 192 per year. (This assumes a tree eight meters in height and 14cm in diameter could be processed into 20,000 towels with a thickness of 0.088 mm.) If the waste paper were piled up, it would reach 28 meters per month, or 336 meters per year, or roughly the height of an 80-story building! |
